The cover should still convey the atmosphere of the book and its intended readership even if the book cover appears to be in thumbnail form on the web. In designing a “childrens book cover”, the legibility of the title, the clarity of the illustration, the contrast of colors, and the presence of focus should take precedence over using many visuals. The cover design should be appropriate for the intended age bracket and should complement the story without giving too much away.
