What Should Beginners Know Before Starting With BigCommerce?

- A lot is already built in. Multi-currency, product variants, basic SEO settings. On Shopify I kept seeing "just install this app" for the same things, and those add up fast. That was a big reason I went with BigCommerce.
- Don't expect it to be easy. The dashboard looks clean, sure, but shipping zones and tax settings had me stuck for a good two days. Product options too. Nothing was where I expected it.
- Read the plan limits before you pick one. There's a yearly sales cap on each tier, and if the store takes off you'll get pushed to the next plan sooner than you'd think. I almost missed that.
- Themes are okay. The free ones work, but if you want to change anything beyond colors you'll need some HTML/CSS, maybe Stencil. I'm not much of a coder, so I've been looking at BigCommerce development services for the design tweaks and a couple of integrations. Still deciding, to be honest.
- Sort your product list first. Names, SKUs, photos, all in a spreadsheet before uploading anything. Saved me a lot of cleanup.
- Place a few test orders before launch. I found a payment glitch that way.
So for anyone who's been using it a while, what do you wish somebody had told you at the start? Any mistakes I should avoid?
